Motor vehicle full of ammunition explodes in Siberia

No victims were reported

ULAN-UDE, May 28 (Itar-Tass) — A motor vehicle carrying ammunition to be scrapped exploded near the Tsugol testing site in Russia’s Trans-Baikal Territory early on Monday, a source in the law enforcement agencies told Itar-Tass.

No victims were reported.

The Mogoytuysky district administration confirmed the information about the incident.

“There was no information about victims. The incident is being investigated,” the source said.

Over the past ten days this has been third such incident.

On May 15, a fire broke out at a depot storing 100-millimeter artillery munitions in the Spassky district of Russia’s Primorsky Territory. One serviceman was wounded. Around 1,800 people from nearby regions were evacuated. The fire was put out on the next day.

On May 24 around 120 boxes with ammunition exploded at the Ashuluk testing range in the Astrakhan region, southern Russia. No one was hurt.
