Amur Region puts out all wildfires

375 wildfires took place in the region since the start of the season

KHABAROVSK, May 27 (Itar-Tass) — The Amur Region has put out all wildfires; the four last fire seats were wiped out on Saturday in the Arkharinsky, Zeya, Shimanovsky and Svobodnensky districts, Itar-Tass learnt on Sunday at the Amur regional branch of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies.

Firefighting involved 118 people, including 49 specialists of air-borne-firefighting services and 17 foresters as well as staff members of the above ministry and local population. A day earlier, 220 people worked in fire zones.

“The monitoring of the state of forests in the Amur Region points to the difficult fire situation,” reported the territorial branch of the ministry.

According to data of the air forest protection service of the region, 375 wildfires took place in the region since the start of the season; fire gutted over 12,700 hectares of forest and other areas.
