United Russia should prove its leadership with practical work-Putin

United Russia should prove its leadership with practical work in order to remain a party of popular majority

MOSCOW, May 26 (Itar-Tass) — United Russia should prove its leadership with practical work in order to remain a party of popular majority, said President Vladimir Putin at the United Russia congress.

“United Russia and all of us should work industriously in future, to fulfill all given promises, to be honest, to listen to people and to respond immediately to problems. Leadership should be proven and confirmed every day with practical work so as to remain the party of not only parliamentary, but, what’s the main thing, of the popular majority,” he emphasized.

The head of state noted that “the level of political competition in Russia will rise”. “And this is good. I believe that this will give an impetus for the country’s development as well as will raise maturity and responsibility of our civil society,” he noted.

“But I’d like to underline that real democracy is measured not by the number of parties, but by their ability to formulate clear-cut aims, to formulate a realistic programme and to shoulder responsibility for it,” Putin added.

In the president’s opinion, “deep-rooted renovation is a serious challenge to the party, that will need a huge amount of work and selflessness”. “I’m sure that the party has a potential to resolve this task, to become more dynamic and competitive,” the president concluded.
