MOSCOW, May 25 (Itar-Tass) —— A criminal case has been opened against lawyer Dagir Khasanov, who said ‘rivers of blood’ would flow in Moscow in the case Sharia courts were not permitted to function there. He is charged with the incitement to inter-religious and inter-ethnic hatred.

“The Moscow prosecutor’s office following orders of the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office verified the REN TV report of April 24 on the establishment of a Muslim Union by Khasanov to protect Islamic laws and to revive Sharia courts,” Prosecutor General’s Office spokesperson Marina Gridneva told Itar-Tass.

“It was established that Khasanov’s interview contained declarations of exclusiveness and superiority of citizens by their religion,” she said.

A representative of the Moscow city department of the Russian Investigation Committee told Itar-Tass that the criminal case was opened on May 23.

“True, criminal charges against Dagir Khasanov were brought back on May 23, but we had reasons for not making that public,” he said.
