Anapa getting ready for flood, rescue services on alert

The monthly precipitation level of 34 millimetres fell down in Anapa and the Anapa district on Thursday

KRASNODAR, May 25 (Itar-Tass) —— The rescue services in the Black Sea resort city Anapa were put on alert. “The reason for this measure is heavy rains in the municipal entity that pose a threat of flood,” a duty officer in the city authorities told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

The monthly precipitation level of 34 millimetres fell down in Anapa and the Anapa district on Thursday. The situation is deteriorated over a probable sharp water rise in the rivers. A storm warning was announced in Anapa.

“The heads of all rural districts and the chief executives of enterprises were informed about a looming flood,” head of the civil defence department in the Anapa authorities Sergei Semerkov said. “The natural disaster resulted in overwet lowlands and croplands,” he said. “The Anapa rescue services were put on high alert and were dispatched in those Anapa districts, where the threat of flooding is high,” he said.

Minor floods were already reported on the roads in the area of the Pionersky Avenue.
