GROZNY, May 24 (Itar-Tass) — Policemen killed a militant in the Achkhoi-Martan district of Chechnya Thursday, a spokesman for the Chechen Republic’s Interior Ministry told Itar-Tass.
Policemen tracked down a group of three or four militants in the township of Upper Bamut in the Achkhoi-Martan district at around 18:00 hours Thursday. An exchange of fire ensued and one of the paramilitaries was killed in the course of it while other managed to disappear in the woodland.
No one among the policemen was killed or wounded.
At the time of reporting, experts were trying to establish the identity of the killed militant.
