MOSCOW, May 24 (Itar-Tass) — Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the average salary of Moscow teachers has increased to 55,000 roubles a month. Sobyanin said so at a meeting with city school directors at school # 1477 in southeastern Moscow on Wednesday.
Moscow has transferred to a new labor remuneration system. "It enabled us to increase the average salary to 55,000 roubles /versus 43,000 roubles in 2011/. Of course, it's a large payrise," the mayor said.
At the same time, salaries in some schools are still higher. "As far as I now, this school pays 70,000 roubles to teachers," the mayor said addressing director of school #1477 Tatyana May.
"At present, we've raised the level of the city schools which lagged behind in funding to the average Moscow level. Governing boards with parents' participation have begun to operate at Moscow schools. In 2011, the Moscow authorities launched projects to renovate schools, build sport grounds and replace school equipment. These projects will continue in 2012; the city budget has allocated 25 billion roubles of funding for them.
Overall repairs are planned at 206 schools and maintenance repairs -- at 1,830 schools. The works to improve school territory are due at 990 schools; 652 sport grounds will be developed and new equipment will be supplied to 600 schools, Sobyanin said.
