MOSCOW, May 24 (Itar-Tass) — Left Front coordinator Sergei Udaltsov has been released from custody at special detention center # 1 for persons detained for administrative offenses.
Udaltsov was detained in Patriarshiye Prudy in central Moscow on May 9, where Opposition activists were trying to hold "an indefinite promenade." A magistrate court found him guilty of violating Article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses /"disobeying legitimate order by police officer"/ and sentenced him to 15 days of arrest, the maximum punishment in such cases.
Udaltsov denied his guilt. He announced a "dry hunger strike" in protest and was hospitalized several times.
