PENZA, May 22 (Itar-Tass) —— The damage done by the unprecedented flood in the Penza region in spring 2012 has been estimated at 142.5 million rubles, the regional housing and public utilities department said on Tuesday.
Commissions formed jointly with municipal authorities evaluated the damage, it said. Damage done to the regional population and economy goes beyond the regional government’s reserve fund, which means the region will be assisted with federal budget subsidies.
The spring freshet affected over 4,600 people. About 2,000 homes were flooded in 37 towns and villages.
