ULAN-UDE, May 22 (Itar-Tass) —— An 87-year-old war veteran of the Great Patriotic War killed a 35-year-old robber, who broke in his house in the Trans-Baikal Territory. The incident occurred in the village Kazanovo in the Shilkinsky district on May 21, a source in the investigation department of the Russian Investigation Committee in the Trans-Baikal Territory told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.

“The detectives preliminarily found that the villager with previous convictions broke illegally in the house of the war veteran and began demanding money under the threat of knife. When the house host refused to him, the brawl sparked up, in which the war veteran stabbed the robber in the stomach. After that he called the neighbours for help and informed the law enforcement agencies about the incident,” the source said.

The war veteran was hospitalized in heavy condition. He got a penetrating knife wound in the breast and other injuries in the brawl.

“The detectives are investigating the details of the incident. Forensic expertises were scheduled, other investigation actions are being taken. A procedural decision will be taken as a result of the investigation,” the source underlined.
