CARACAS, May 22 (Itar-Tass) – Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez told his compatriots Monday he feels better and better with every passing day, as he continues restoring health after a course of radiotherapy in Cuba.
Chavez, who called the studio of the state channel Venezolana de television, said he had been strictly fulfilling the physicians recommendations throughout the ten days that followed his return from Cuba and now he is gradually restoring his ‘working rhythms’.
“I feel better with every passing day and I’ll work for my own recuperation – not as forcefully as a young stallion probably but surely like a bull,” he said.
Since June 2011 when Chavez was given the first surgery in Cuba to remove a tumor, he has had four courses of chemotherapy – three in Cuba and one in Venezuela.
In October, he declared that he had suppressed cancer. However, physicians found a new tumor in the pelvic zone during a checkup several months later – practically in the same place where the initial tumor had been removed from.
Chavez was again given a surgery at a clinic in Havana at the end of February. After that he began to take treatment with radiotherapy, making regular trips to Cuba.
