MOSCOW, May 21 (Itar-Tass) — Acting head of the Russian Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh) Vasily Yakemenko has announced the intention to create a new party, which, in his words, should be oriented towards “people of the future.”
“The task of the party is the reorganisation of the environment, ecology of the vital activity of the ‘people of the future,’ the principle of the party - mass network participation, the party’s achievement - new people in the government, new talents, new ideas and the result is the country’s success through the people’s successes,” he stressed at a press conference on Monday.
“The purpose of the establishment of the party is to make Russia the maximally favourable place for the life and work the people of the future,” he said.
Yakemenko, who earlier headed the Nashi (Ours) youth movement explained that for him “people of the future” are citizens aged 25 – 35 years on which “the future of the country depends the most.” “There are such people among my friends, my political opponents, among the workers, entrepreneurs, athletes, housewives. There are more of them in cities and less - in the rural areas. They have their own opinion, they do not want decisions to be made without them,” he specified.
The opposition members, in the view of Yakemenko, do not claim to be among this audience. “They have failed to offer anything except the shouting “Down with!,” he explained, adding that the “parties represented in the State Duma also cannot offer anything.”
The Rosmolodezh head said that in the next two or three months he would establish an Internet platform where “the people of the future will discuss the global agenda.” One of the subjects for discussion of the new party will be the need to redistribute the resources from the centre to municipalities.
“I propose to the “people of the future” to create a party themselves, to take power, to implement changes in our country. If Russia’s “people of the future” do not unite, then Russia will have no future,” said Yakemenko.
He added that he has coordinated the decision on the party foundation with the “Kremlin and has met with support there.” “Should this project be considered Kremlin’s or not, I think, the ‘people of the future’ will themselves clarify this issue if they unite,” he stressed.
He also proposed to name the new party the Party of Power.
