TOKYO, May 20 (Itar-Tass) —— A Peruvian citizen detained by the Japanese police on suspicion of killing Russian citizen Anna Filimonova in Yokohama has made a confession, the police said on Sunday.
Max Enrique Pinedo Toguchi, 35, said he had been dating the young woman. They broke off and he killed her. Earlier the Peruvian was strongly denying his crime. He may be indicted soon.
The body of Filimonova, 19, with numerous stab wounds was found in a Yokohama apartment on April 20, 2012. Two men – citizens of Japan and Peru – told the police detail, which came to the girl’s apartment, that she did not answer phone calls and they came to check whether she was all right. They also said the apartment door was unlocked and the girl was dead. It appeared later that the Japanese man had called the police and said that the Russian woman had badly cut her hand with a knife. The Peruvian said, in turn, that he had tossed the kitchen knife found near the body into a river. He explained that with a stress.
Divers found the presumed murder weapon on the river bottom. A street camera recorded Filimonova entering her house jointly with the Peruvian about an hour before she died. The police decided to take the suspect into custody.
The Russian embassy in Tokyo and the Foreign Ministry said earlier that Filimonova was a native of Khabarovsk born in 1993.
