MOSCOW, May 20 (Itar-Tass) —— President Vladimir Putin has sent congratulatory message to the participants in the round-the-world voyage of the Sedov sailing vessel, the Kremlin reported on Sunday.

“I congratulate you on the remarkable event – the beginning of a round-the-world voyage of the legendary sailing ship Sedov. The project unites the best cadets of many domestic schools – talented and enthusiastic young people. You will traverse seas and have unforgettable meetings and impressions. You will follow the routes of Russian explorers I.F. Krusenstern, F.F. Bellingshausen, M.P. Lazarev and F.P. Wrangel. You will learn professional secrets, use your knowledge and skills and join maritime traditions,” the message runs.

“The round-the-world voyage of the Sedov will make a contribution to the exploration of the World Ocean, develop cooperation between maritime nations and build up friendship,” he said.

Putin wished success, good luck and all the very best to the Sedov crew. The voyage starts in St. Petersburg on Sunday night and will last for 14 months.
