Russia’s government ready to face new wave of world financial crisis - Medvedev

Medvedev said “the government has mid and long-term plans. Those are our priorities, they should not be changed, this is what we have suffered for”

CAMP DAVID /US/, May 20 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia’s government is ready to face a new wave of the international financial crisis, Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev told a news conference following the G8 summit.

“Surely, the government should respond to unfavourable changes in the international economy,” the prime minister said. “We have an order of actions, a set of tools, which we used during the first wave of the crisis. In this aspect, we are armed fully.”

Medvedev said “the government has mid and long-term plans. Those are our priorities, they should not be changed, this is what we have suffered for.”

“Of course, there may be changes, should there be unfavourable changes in the global economy, and, according to our discussions during the summit, there will be major problems,” he said.

“There are also changes, which we shall have to make depending on the economic situation,” Medvedev added. “As yet, our situation is normal.”
