Rostekhnologii defense exports portfolio exceeds $38 billion

“We already did that in the 1990s, and the sales were much more modest,” Chemezov said

MOSCOW, May 18 (Itar-Tass) —— The defense exports portfolio of Rostekhnologii exceeds $38 billion, Rostekhnologii General Director Sergei Chemezov said at the Friday conference chaired by President Vladimir Putin.

“Our sales amount to $10.7 billion now, and the portfolio is $38.1 billion large,” he said. “The selling of Russian armaments grows year to year. There is no decline. Instead, we witness a growth every year.”

He opposed the independent access of defense plants to foreign markets. “We already did that in the 1990s, and the sales were much more modest,” Chemezov said.

He also said that Rosoboronexport had an increased output of defense products. “The output grew a lot since 2010, but at far from all plants. The production is growing at helicopter and aircraft part plants,” he said.

“State defense orders are practically zero in the production of ammunition and firearms. The position of these plants is very complex, and we see no prospects. No serious orders to these plants are planned until 2015,” he said.
