Sapsan high-speed train passengers to be offered discount cards

The ticket price will depend on the time of booking, the train occupancy and the train car class, the company said

MOSCOW, May 18 (Itar-Tass) — Passengers of Sapsan high-speed trains making shuttle trips between Moscow, St. Petersburg and Nizhny Novgorod will be offered discount cards starting from July 1, 2012, Russian Railroads told Itar-Tass on Friday.

“The ticket price will depend on the time of booking, the train occupancy and the train car class,” the company said. “There will be 20% discounts for citizens older than 60 and schoolchildren aged from ten to 16. Young people aged 16 to 25 will enjoy a 15% discount.”

Besides, passengers will be offered cards “Two Capitals” and “The Restaurant.” The first card will be issued to those departing from Moscow to St. Petersburg at 6:45 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on weekends. The card holder and no more than three accompanying persons will buy tickets with a 15% discount, Russian Railroads said. “The Restaurant” card provides a seat on the restaurant car and a 5% discount.

The cards will be valid for one year, and it will be prohibited to transfer them to other persons, the company said. Travel cards will cost 300 rubles, while “Two Capitals” and “The Restaurant” cards will cost 500 rubles. “The cards will be on sale starting from May 25,” the company said.
