MOSCOW, May 16 (Itar-Tass) — The Russian Emergencies Ministry (EMERCOM) has confirmed to Itar-Tass that a voice recorder has been found at Russia’s Sukhoi Superjet 100 airliner crash site in Indonesia.
“The voice recorder has been found and delivered to Jakarta,” the ministry said.
Spokeswoman for the Russian United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) Olga Kayukova reported for her part that the “black box” is badly burned.
According to preliminary information, the deciphering of the plane’s flight recorders will be conducted in Indonesia with the participation of experts from the Russian Federation.
The Russian Sukhoi Superjet 100 airliner crashed during a demonstration flight on May 9. According to available information, there were 45 people on board, including eight Russians, 35 citizens of Indonesia, as well as a Frenchman and an American.
On May 12, specialists of the Centrospas squad and the Leader Centre of the Russian Emergencies Ministry arrived from Moscow to Indonesia by two planes to assist in the search operation. These planes also airlifted to Indonesia the Bo-105 and BK-117 light helicopters.
