BAKU, May 14 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s folk group Buranovo Grannies held the first rehearsal at the Baku Crystall Hall, the main stage of the Eurovision-2012 song contest. Though journalists were not allowed to be present at the rehearsal, everybody could see it on a wide screen at the Eurovision’s press center.

Apart from singing, the grannies are planning to cook a national dish called ‘perepechi’, an analogue to Italian pizza, during their three-minute performance. All the grannies seem to be in good and frolicsome mood. The flight from Moscow to Baku didn’t exhaust them. A huge photo of the Buranovo Grannies was installed at the press center and everybody who wished could take a picture against the background of this photo.

The grannies are staying in a separate cottage where they have the best living conditions. The cottage is located in a guarded area and has its own private beach where no one will bother the grannies from Udmurtiya. The old ladies will have their own cook.

“The Caucasian cuisine is a bit sharp flavored for our artists. That is why we have prepared a special menu for the grannies which takes account of their age and tastes and resembles their home cuisine,” Svetlana Syrygina, the group’s press secretary, told Itar-Tass.

The Buranovo Grannies will appear in the first under number 14.

The participants and guests of the Eurovision-2012 song contest are showing live interest in the Buranovo Grannies and their song ‘Party for Everybody’. Bookmakers predict the second or third place for them.

Swedish singer Loreen with ‘Euphoria’ is topping bookmakers’ ratings. Other hot favorites include Eleftheria Eleftheriou from Greece (‘The Aphrodisiac’) and Sabina Babayeva from Azerbaijan with a song ‘When Music Dies.”
