MOSCOW, May 14 (Itar-Tass) — The fact that the Syrian authorities and the opposition have started a political dialogue does not add optimism, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov said.
“There is no optimism with the beginning of talks between the Syrian authorities and the opposition. But there is no alternative to the Kofi Annan plan,” Gatilov told journalists on Monday.
“The negotiations are the unique way to settle the situation and the opposition categorically gives up the negotiations. It is necessary to implement the Kofi Annan plan in full,” the Russian diplomat stressed.
