Rescuers find one of flight data recorders from crashed Russian Superjet in Indonesia

BANGKOK, May 13 (Itar-Tass) — Rescuers unearthed one of onboard flight data recorders from the Russian airliner Sukhoi Superject-100 that crashed in Indonesia, a representative of the Indonesian National Search and Rescue Agency told reporters on Sunday.

The Jakarta Post newspaper notes that despite the fact that an access to information of the flight recorder will take some time, these data will be extremely important to understand what really happened to the Russian passenger jetliner.

Indonesian Transport Minister Evert Ernest Mangindaan said earlier that the decoding of flight recorders would be made in Indonesia.

The Sukhoi Superject-100 land-crashed on May 9 during a demonstration flight. The place of its crash was spotted the next day not far from Jakarta in a hardly accessible place on the slope of Mt. Salak at an altitude of 1.7 kilometres.

The plane carried 45 people, including eight Russians, as well as citizens of Indonesia, France and the US. Rescuers could evacuate the first fragments of the dead from the place of the disaster on May 12.

However, the Russian Joint Aircraft Corporation has not confirmed the fact of finding the flight recorders at the place of crash of the Sukhoi Superjet jetliner, Itar-Tass learnt at the corporation.

“The onboard flight data recorders have not been found yet,” said the corporation’s representative.

Earlier, some Indonesian mass media reported that rescuers found one of flight recorders.
