TBILISI, May 13 (Itar-Tass) — Torrential rain hit the Georgian capital on Sunday. As a result, the Kura River broke its banks and flooded several streets in Tbilisi. Three people, including two children, died, a spokesperson for the emergency service told journalists.

The Kura broke its banks in the Krtsanisski neighborhood. Several streets, dozens of cars, shops and the ground floors of dozens of houses and buildings were flooded. Tens of thousands residents of the Georgian capital were left without electricity.

Several car and pedestrian bridges have been damaged or destroyed in eastern Georgia. As a result, eight villages have been isolated from the mainland.

Dozens of hectares of arable lands have been flooded and electric power lines have been damaged.

Mobile groups of power engineers and builders are restoring electricity supply and the infrastructure.
