MOSCOW, May 12 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian rescuers will join early on Sunday the rescue operation in Indonesia after the crash of the Sukhoi Superjet 100, the head of the Russian emergencies ministry’s team, Mikhail Chupalenkov, told Itar-Tass over the phone on Saturday.

“At a meeting with the Indonesian side, we have outlined the scope of work for tomorrow,” he said.

According to Chupalenkov, Russian rescuers will use special climbing rope. Apart from that, a Russian helicopter will make flights over the site. The Russian rescuer team will be taken to the site by a BK-117 helicopter.

Earlier on Saturday, about 70 specialists of the Tsentrospas and the Leader rescue centres, as well as emergency and medical-psychological groups arrived in Indonesia by two planes. Apart from that, the same planes brought two light helicopters, the Bo-105 and BK-117.

In the morning, rescuers will begin an operation to recover Superjet’s flight recorders.

Russia’s Sukhoi Superjet 100 airliner crashed during a demonstration flight on May 9. According to available information, there were 45 people on board, including eight Russians, as well as citizens of Indonesia, Italy, France and the United States. The crash site was spotted the next day not far from the capital of Indonesia, in rough terrain on a slope of Mount Salak at an altitude of 1.7 kilometres. Rescuers have been working in the area of the catastrophe.
