Accident at power substation leaves 118 settlements in Arkhangelsk reg without electricity

ARKHANGELSK, May 12 (Itar-Tass) —— More than 28,000 people have been left without electricity supplies in Russia’s northwestern Arkhangelsk region because of an accident at a power substation, a spokesman for the regional administration of the Russian emergencies ministry told Itar-Tass late of Saturday.

“A high voltage line was de-energized in the Kholmogory district at 20:15 Moscow time. Electricity supplies to 118 settlements with a population of 28,270 were cut off electricity supplies,” the spokesman said.

As many as 27 boiler houses, 12 schools, 12 kindergartens, and three in-patient clinics have been cut off electricity.

The accident occurred at the Ugzenga substation. Repair works are underway.
