Rescuers to begin search for flight recorders from crashed Russian Superjet on Sunday

MOSCOW, May 12 (Itar-Tass) —— Rescuers will begin on Sunday a search operation to recover flights recorders from the Russian Sukhoi Superjet 100 that crashed near Mount Salak in Indonesia, a spokesman for Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation told Itar-Tass.

According to earlier reports, Indonesia’s Minister of Transportation Evert Erenst Mangindaan said that the flight recorders will be deciphered in Indonesia.

Russia’s Sukhoi Superjet 100 airliner crashed during a demonstration flight on May 9. According to available information, there were 45 people on board, including eight Russians, as well as citizens of Indonesia, Italy, France and the United States. The crash site was spotted the next day not far from the capital of Indonesia, in rough terrain on a slope of Mount Salak at an altitude of 1.7 kilometres. Rescuers have been working in the area of the catastrophe.
