Six gunmen killed in special operation in Dagestan’s Kizlyar district

Six gunmen were killed in a special operation in the Kizlyar district of Russia’s North Caucasian republic of Dagestan

MOSCOW, May 12 (Itar-Tass) —— Six gunmen were killed in a special operation in the Kizlyar district of Russia’s North Caucasian republic of Dagestan, a spokesman for Russia’s National Anti-terrorism Committee said on Saturday.

According to the spokesman, several more members of the so-called Kizlyar paramilitary unit were killed in the joint police and security forces operation that has been conducted since May 10 in forests around the village of Tsvetovka.

One of the six killed gunmen was identified as Magomed Makhmudov, who was a shariah judge of the Kizlyar group. The rest of the gunmen are being identified.

Two light machine guns, four machine guns, two handguns, grenades and cartridges were recovered from the site.
