MOSCOW, May 12 (Itar-Tass) —— The Committee of Civil Initiatives headed by ex-finance minister Alexei Kudrin is concerned over radicalism of the Russian opposition and the authorities and urges to return the rally activity to normal.
The committee in its statement published in Kudrin's official website notes that mass street protests emphasize the need for the authorities and the society for further political changes to ensure openness of the political system and effective representation of citizens' interests. But the protests must be peaceful, and it is necessary not to yield to provocations of radicals, who are on both sides.
The meeting activity must be immediately returned to normal. The experience of previous demonstrations at Bolotnaya and Sakharov shows that it is possible.
The current situation makes particular responsible those people in power and in the opposition, who, realizing the need for changes, want them to be peaceful, the committee noted.
