BANGKOK, May 11 (Itar-Tass) — The evacuation crew of 250 rescuers was sent on Friday morning to the site of the crash of Russia’s Sukhoi Superjet 100 airliner in Indonesia, head of the operation from the Indonesian side Colonel Anton Putranto said.
“These 250 people have the task to evacuate the dead bodies,” he said. According to Colonel Putranto, the crew is prepared for the worst scenario, in which the evacuation by helicopter would be impossible. “In this case, guy ropes will be used for the evacuation, and the bodies will be transported down with the use of the relay system,” he explained. “This will require at least 1,000 soldiers.”
Twenty-five ambulance coaches have been prepared and are waiting at the main search and rescue post in the Sipelang village at the foot of Mount Salak. A temporary pad for eight helicopters has been arranged three kilometres from the village.
Anton Putranto stressed that the second team of rescuers has another mission. The first should clear the way to the Superjet crash site, which is at a height of 1.5 thousand metres on the steep slopes of Mount Salak. The second team has the task to evacuate the dead bodies.
