MOSCOW, May 10 (Itar-Tass) ——The Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations sends rescuers to Indonesia to take part in a search and rescue operation on the Superjet crash site, Irina Andrianova, the ministry’s spokesperson, told Itar-Tass.
“Under the decision of the country’s leadership and in coordination with the Indonesian side, the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations sends rescuers and the necessary equipment, including a helicopter, for a search and rescue operation,” she said.
Andrianova noted that an Il-76 plane is to take off at 02:00 Moscow time on May 11.
There are 42 persons on board the plane - members of the Centrospas rescue team, medics, psychologists and an operational group. “All the rescuers are trained in mountain climbing and have required equipment. They will take part in the search for flight recorders and in other work,” Andrianova said.
The ministry’s plane will carry to Jakarta a Bo-105 helicopter for the search operation. Half an hour upon the arrival it will be ready to fly to the crash area. “Such technology called ‘a global radius’ was used in search and rescue operations many times,” Andrianova noted.
She said another plane of the Ministry for Emergency Situations is to fly to Indonesia before noon on May 11.
