VLADIVOSTOK, May 9 (Itar-Tass) —— About 2,000 servicemen took part in a military parade on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1954 in Russia’s Far Eastern city of Vladivostok.
Units dressed in the war-time military uniform, as well as units of servicemen from warships, coastal and land troops, students from the Makarov and Nevelsky Naval Schools, and interior and emergencies troops marched down the city’s central street. More than 30 units of military hardware, such as OSA and S-300 missile systems, Redut and Rubezh self-propelled systems, and others took part in the parade.
This year the venue for the parade has been changed. Until 2012, military parades were held either near the Pacific Fleet Combat Glory Memorial in Korabelnaya Embankment or on Vladivostok’s central square. This year, the parade marched along Svetlanskaya Street, which hosted Victory parades in 1950-1960s.
After the parade, celebrations were continued in the city’s parks and boulevards.
The celebrations will culminate with colorful fireworks in the evening.
