MOSCOW, May 9 (Itar-Tass) —— Moscow police have refuted reports about the detention of lawmaker Dmitry Gudkov.
“Dmitry Gudkov voluntarily followed the police car with [popular TV host Xenia] Sobchak who was detained for an attempt to stage an unauthorized action. Probably, to see to it that she is all right,” a spokesman for the Moscow police department said early on Wednesday.
“Reports alleging his detention are not true,” the spokesman stressed.
Apart from that, according to police, another lawmaker, Ilya Ponomarev, came to the police station where detained opposition activist Alexei Navalny had been taken to. Ponomarev was not detained either, police stressed.
