MOSCOW, May 8 (Itar-Tass) — Members of the CPRF faction (92 mandates out of 450) in the State Duma lower house of parliament will not support Dmitry Medvedev's nomination for premiership.
House Member Vladimir Bessonov told Itar-Tass after consultations with Medvedev, "The Communists will vote against".
The United Russia and the LDPR factions, as a result of Monday's meetings with Premier-designate Dmitry Medvedev, expressed support for nomination. Consultations with "A Just Russia" faction (64 mandates) will begin shortly. Faction leader Sergei Mironov maintained the intrigue by stating that he and his associates intended to determine their attitude to the premiership candidate on Tuesday.
An extraordinary plenary session of the House is to begin at 15:00. At the session, President Vladimir Putin is to introduce Premier-designate to the House members.
Then, according to the draft procedure, placed in the State Duma electronic database, Dmitry Medvedev will make a report headlined "About a Programme for the Basic Orientations of Government Activities". A question-and-answer procedure is also provided for. A final vote is to be preceded by speeches made by representatives of the House factions.
