MOSCOW, May 8 (Itar-Tass) —— The Left Front coordinator Sergei Udaltsov and a blogger Alexei Navalny were detained during a protest action at the Monument to the Heroes of Pleven near the Kitai-Gorod metro station here on Tuesday.

“I and Udaltsov were detained. Nothing awful happened,” Navalny wrote down in his Twitter microblog. At first they were brought to the Khamovniki police station, but then were taken to the police station in the Basmanny district of Moscow.

“Massive detentions began,” Udaltsov noted in his Twitter blog. “None of us violated the law,” he claimed.

According to various estimates, from 200 to 500 people are participating in the protest action.

On Monday, the court fined Navalny and Udaltsov “for disobedience to the demands of police” during a protest action on the Bolotnaya Square on May 6.
