MOSCOW, May 7 (Itar-Tass) — Russia lifted the embargo on weapons supplies to Libya, according to the May 6 decree made public on the legal information portal on Monday.

“Measures recorded in ‘a’ and ‘b’ sub-paragraphs of the decree of the President of the Russian Federation of March 9, 2011 are not related to the sale, supplies and handover of weapons and material means of all types to Libya,” the decree says.

These sub-paragraphs banned Russian state enterprises, industrial, trade and other enterprises to supply weapons of any types to Libya.

In addition, the document says financial operations are allowed with several Libyan institutions. “Measures recorded in the presidential decree of March 9, 2011 are not related to financial operations by the Libyan National Oil Corporation, the Central Bank of Libya and the Libyan Foreign Arab Bank, as well as by the Libyan Investment Authority and the Libyan African Investment Portfolio,” the decrees says.
