MOSCOW, May 7 (Itar-Tass) — President Vladimir Putin said he would insist the United States give guarantees under which missile defence was not targeted against Russia.

In a decree signed on Monday, Putin said, “In relations with the United States of America it is necessary to defend Russia’s approaches due to the U.S. plans to create global missile defence and insist America give guarantees under which its system is not targeted against Russian nuclear deterrence forces.”
