Putin submits Medvedev’s candidature for Duma approval as prime minister

It is expected that the State Duma will approve Medvedev as new prime minister at its extraordinary session on Tuesday, May 8

MOSCOW, May 7 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian President Vladimir Putin has submitted to the State Duma lower parliament house the candidature of his predecessor, Dmitry Medvedev, for the post of Russian prime minister, Duma speaker Sergei Naryshkin told journalists on Monday.

It is expected that the State Duma will approve Medvedev as new prime minister at its extraordinary session on Tuesday, May 8. The session will begin at 15:00 Moscow time.

Later on Monday and in the first half of the day on Tuesday, Medvedev will hold consultations with the four State Duma factions.
