MOSCOW, May 7 (Itar-Tass) — About 120 opposition activists have been detained in downtown Moscow, a spokesman for the Moscow police department told Itar-Tass on Monday.

“The general situation in the city is calm. About 120 opposition activists have been detained for attempts to stage unauthorized pickets. Boris Nemtsov [a co-leader of the Party of People’s Freedom, or PARNAS] is among them,” the spokesman said.

The detained were taken to police stations. “After they are warned about inadmissibility of violations of public orders, they will be released,” the spokesman added.
