Police detaining protesters in downtown Moscow

Earlier, Internet users were called on to stage flash mobs along the route of Vladimir Putin’s motorcade

MOSCOW, May 7 (Itar-Tass) — The police are detaining participants in an unauthorized action near the Hotel National in a stone’s throw from the Kremlin.

According to an Itar-Tass correspondent, people with white ribbons began to gather near the Hotel National in the morning. In all, there are several dozens of protesters. Police officers are urging them to go away.

After a number of such calls, police officers began to detain the protesters.

Several people with white ribbons have gathered near the Borovitskaya metro station, also in downtown Moscow.

Security measures have been enhanced in Moscow on Monday, the inauguration day of President Elect Vladimir Putin. Several metro stations in the very centre of Moscow are closed for exit.
