MOSCOW, May 6 (Itar-Tass) —— The Russian Investigation Committee has opened a criminal case over the appeals for public unrest and violence against police officers in the opposition action on Moscow’s Bolotnaya Square on Sunday, committee spokesman Vladimir Markin said.

He said they were collecting information about the injured police officers and identifying the suspects. Detectives will appeal for the arrest of persons, who harmed policemen, Markin said.

About 20 policemen were hurt and almost 400 march participants were detained. Human rights defenders said that the opposition thwarted the rally itself by starting a sit-in strike near the Udarnik Movie Theater. The police detained Left Front coordinator Sergei Udaltsov, PARNAS Cochairman Boris Nemtsov and blogger Alexei Navalny.
