MOSCOW, May 5 (Itar-Tass) — Russia has provided one million U.S. dollar humanitarian aid to the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Foreign Ministry reported on Saturday.
“Due to the measles epidemic in the Democratic Republic of Congo and due to friendly relations between both parties, Russia provided one million U.S. dollar humanitarian aid to the Democratic Republic of Congo through contribution to the budget of the World Health Organisation in order to acquire the measles vaccine,” the ministry said.
“Russia’s humanitarian aid proves the country’s readiness to exert support for African friends in difficult times, was praised by Congolese officials and the public,” the ministry said.
