Russia was 18th among world’s leading countries in terms of inflation in March

MOSCOW, May 5 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia occupies the 18th place among the world’s leading countries in terms of the inflation rate in March 2012, the State Statistics Service said in its regular report.

In the period under review, Russia’s consumer process of goods and services increased by 0.6 percent, while the European Union’s countries average indicator amounted to 1.1 percent, the statistics said in the document. In the first three months of the year, Russia’s inflation went up by 1.5 percent, while the EU average inflation made up 1.0 percent, the document wrote.

In March 2012, among the countries under review the most significant hike of the consumer prices (as against the preceding month) was registered in Greece (2.9 percent), Italy (2.5 percent) and Spain (2.2 percent), the report stressed. In January-March, the most considerable inflation growth was reported from Belarus (5.0 percent), Hungary (3.8 percent) and the Netherlands (2.5 percent), the document underlined.

At the same time, the decline of the consumer prices was registered in Norway (0.1 percent) and South Korea (0.1 percent) in March, as compared to February, the Russian State Statistics Service said.
