MOSCOW, May 5 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia’s second largest air carrier Transaero will begin performing flights between Moscow and Rome starting from June 27, 2012, Director General of the Company Olga Pleshakova said on Saturday, adding that the air carrier will make its flights from Moscow’s Vnukovo airport.

In her words, Transaero received the right to make seven flights a week from Moscow to Rome and seven flights from Moscow to Milan. Transaero is Russia’s second contract carrier for the flights to Italy, Pleshakova said.

A contract carrier is an air company, which is assigned by the authorities for performing abroad flights along a determined route.

One of Russia’s biggest airlines, Transaero, made its first flight on November 5, 1991. Now, the airline has more than 80 jetliners, including Boeing 747, Boeing 777, Boeing 767, Boeing 737 and Tupolev Tu-214. The company’s flight routes embrace more than 160 destinations in Russia and countries of Europe, Asia, America and Africa.
