MOSCOW, May 4 (Itar-Tass) — Experienced investigators and forensic experts have been sent to Makhachkala to help in the probe into the double bombing in which 13 persons were killed, an Investigation Committee /SK/ official told Itar-Tass on Friday.
"Experienced investigators and forensic experts of the SK's main investigation department for the North Caucasus Federal Districts have been sent to Makhachkala to provide practical assistance in investigating the criminal case," the SK official said.
According to the SK, an unidentified man set off a bomb planted in a car in the outskirts of the city, in close proximity to the Alyaska-30 road police post near the Makhachkala-Astrakhan highway at 22:10, Moscow time, on Thursday.
"At approximately 22:35, Moscow time, when police and rescuers had arrived at the scene and passers-by had gathered, a second bomb was set off. Supposedly, it was planted in a Gazel van," the SK said.
Thirteen persons were killed and more than 120 were injured. The nearby buildings and some 30 cars in the area were seriously damaged.
The SK department for Dagestan opened a criminal case under Article 205, Part 3 /act of terror/, Article 22, Part 2 /illegal turnover of weapons and their basic parts, ammunition, explosives and explosive devices/ and Article 223, Part 3 /illegal making of weapons/.
