MAKHACHKALA, May 3 (Itar-Tass) – Explosions that went off late night Thursday near a road police post in the North Caucasian city of Makhachkala have left several people dead, a source at the Investigations Committee of the constituent region of Dagestan told Itar-Tass.
“The exact number of victims of the two explosions is now being clarified,” he said, adding that early reports indicate there are policemen and firefighters among the dead.
The explosives that detonated at around 22:00 hours and 30 minutes later fell into the category of super-heavy ones and that is why the blasts were heard in other districts of the city, the source said.
