MOSCOW, May 3 (Itar-Tass) — Russia has all the necessary capabilities enabling it to expose preparations for a potential war against itself, General Nikolai Makarov, the Chief of General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces told reporters Thursday upon the end of the first day of an international conference on the antiballistic missile system.
When a reporter asked him about the opportunities of a preventive impact on the U.S. antimissile missile system, Gen Makarov said: “Conflicts never break out instantaneously and they are underpinned by the political conditions conducive to them.”
“Intelligence makes it possible the expose preparations on the part of one or another state and Russia possesses a full arsenal of instruments to do such exposures,” he said.
If such preparations are uncovered someday, “political leadership may take a decision to render the systems threatening Russia harmless.”
