MOSCOW, May 2 (Itar-Tass) —— The fire at a ski jump in Moscow’s Vorobyevy Hills area has been extinguished, a spokesman for the city’s emergencies administration told Itar-Tass late on Wednesday.
According to the spokesman, it took some 45 minutes to put out the fire at the jump’s middle section near the viewing point. The fire area was 15 running meters. No one was hurt.
An investigation is underway.
The 72-meter long ski jump was launched in the Vorobyevy Hills area in 1953. The facility is equipped with a cable road and lighting. The jump’s surface makes it possible to use it in summer time as well.
