5 Russian servicemen die in firing range explosion

Five servicemen were killed outright, and another three were injured

MOSCOW, May 2 (Itar-Tass) — Five Russian servicemen died when old ammunition exploded at the Mulino firing range, Nizhny Novgorod region, a Defense Ministry representative told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.

"The Defense Ministry confirms the explosion of old ammunition during unloading at the Mulino firing range earlier in the day," the representative said.

Five servicemen were killed outright, and another three were injured.

The injured soldiers were rushed to hospital. A Defense Ministry commission led by commander of the Western Military District Col-Gen Arkady Bakhin flew to the scene of the accident.
