Documents on Zhukovsky road construction made public

On the list of the documents are conclusions of experts, permissions for the construction, materials on the choice of the land area

ZHUKOVSKY, Moscow Region, May 2 (Itar-Tass) —— Documents for the construction of the road across the Tsagovsky forest in Zhukovsky, the Moscow Region, have been placed in the site of the regional road department, acting mayor Stanislav Suknov said on Wednesday.

Together with officials of the local administration and the Mosavtodor road construction agency, the city head met on Wednesday with the initiative group of citizens protesting that threes are cut off in the forest to clear a line for the road construction.

"All the documents interesting for you are made public in the site, where all who wish can study them," he said.

The publication was shown on a large screen in the hall where the meeting took place. On the list of the documents are conclusions of experts, permissions for the construction, materials on the choice of the land area and a number of resolutions of the city administration and the regional government.

Mosavtodor officials proposed the activists to go to the construction headquarters located directly at the construction site to study these and other published materials, which form 150 volumes, the officials noted.

However, during the two-hour meeting, the initiative group insisted that the work to cut off trees to clear the area in the forest and the road construction there were illegal.

Local administration officials, in their turn, referred to the published list of documents and proposed the activists to use their legitimate right to appeal to court. A month has passed since the work began, but no suit has been filed, the city head's aide Yevgeny Solodilin noted.

The meeting resulted in the decision that a new meeting would be held to settle emerging issues after the activists study all the documents.

The so-called Tsagovsky forest, the site of the construction, is located within Zhukovsky between the complexes of the Zhukovsky Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute and the Gromov Flight Research Institute.

In accordance with the approved project to build a new access road, a line of 12 hectares of the forest was cleared of trees, less than ten percent of the total forest area.

The work to cut off trees began on the night to March 21 to ensure security for the work and to prevent blocking of the Tupolev road, a street for transit transport traffic. The work caused protests of citizens.

Earlier, the city administration said that three parks, thematical, ecological ones and a park of an innovation development zone, will be laid out on new areas of the science city to make up for the forest area. The total area of the parks will exceed 400 hectares. Decisions are also taken to improve the condition of the remaining forest, which will be cleared of garbage.
