MOSCOW, April 30 (Itar-Tass) — There is no threat of sanctions in the draft resolution of the UN Security Council on the Sudanese conflict, said on Monday Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov by the results of talks with his Sudanese counterpart Ali Karti.

Lavrov noted that the Security Council resolution “should be just and objective” as well as reflect real actions of the sides in the conflict.

“Work on the document continues; it undergoes changes daily so as to ensure objective reflection of what is going on on the land,” Lavrov said.

According to the minister, there is destruction of oil infrastructure in the area of Heglig.

“It is necessary to stop armed provocations by the opposition,” the minister noted. “We are striving for objective reflection of facts in the draft resolution. Following the conclusion of an all-embracing peace agreement, it is necessary to monitor implementation by the sides of their obligations – how the sides act in practice”.

Moscow includes these wordings in the text of the draft.

Lavrov emphasized again that the African Union remains the leading player in a settlement, while the UN Security Council supports it.
