Search in Primorye lawmaker office linked with fraud case

MOSCOW, April 28 (Itar-Tass) —— The fraud criminal case is being investigated against Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the Primorsky Territory Yevgeny Ovechkin, a source in the Russian Investigation Committee told Itar-Tass on Saturday.

The search, which was made in his office, is linked with the criminal case versus him, the source said.

“The investigation department of the Russian Investigation Committee in the Primorsky Territory is investigating the criminal case versus Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the Primorsky Territory Yevgeny Ovechkin under Article 159 Part 4 of the Criminal Code for fraud,” the source said without elaborating on the details of the criminal case.

“During the investigation into the fraud criminal case the search was made in Ovechkin’s office. The investigation actions are being taken to find all details of the crime,” the source said.

Yevgeny Ovechkin, 49, heads the Legislative Assembly of the Primorsky Territory since December 16, 2011. He worked as the vice-governor of the Primorsky Territory from 2004 to 2007, then he headed the board of directors of the Far Eastern industrial building company.
